"Café de Coral X Food Grace Community Spring Feast"
Treating over 700 beneficiaries to share happiness with the community

To enjoy a festive Lunar New Year with the needy and send out love and blessings, Food Grace joined the Café de Coral Twinkle Action to organise “Café de Coral X Food Grace Community Spring Feast”. At the weekends of February and March, 18 sessions of Community Spring Feast will be held at Café de Coral fast food stores in different districts, welcoming the neighborhood to celebrate this joyous festival and spreading the seeds of happiness to every corner in Hong Kong.

Lunar New Year is the time of gathering and reunion but it might not be economical for every family to have a lavish meal. Hence, Food Grace is co-organising a series of “Community Spring Feast” at the weekends of February and March with Café de Coral Twinkle Action, serving over 700 people from 200 grassroots families at Café de Coral fast food stores in 14 districts – celebrating Lunar New Year together.

The Café de Coral Group made an effort to advocate the idea of protecting the environmental and cherishing resources within the organization, by collecting the excess, brand-new gifts from the staff and giving them to the participants, benefit the needy and reduced waste.

The first session of Community Spring Feast was successfully concluded today at the Café de Coral fast food store in Kowloon Commerce Centre, Kwai Chung, serving 40 residents from Kwai Tsing District with delicate Poon Choi (a.k.a. Village Casserole Feast). Marilyn Tang Yin Lee, Chief Executive Supervisor of Food Grace and Peter Lo Tak Shing, Chief Executive Officer of Café de Coral Group also joined the event and enjoyed the meaningful hours with the neighborhood.

The Feast first began with the welcoming speeches delivered by Tang and Lo. To address the importance of food waste reduction, the staff of Food Grace then held an inspiring kickoff ceremony with all the participants claiming “Yes, I do” – affirming to consume all the food prepared and to protect the environment by cherishing food. Participants praised the Poon Choi as well as other delicacies. The feast was cheerful and entertaining with games and gifts, which got everybody going home with their hearts warm.
The Community Spring Feast was initiated with the coordination between Food Grace and Café de Coral Twinkle Action. It is the largest program under the category of caring for the community after the “Café de Coral X Food Grace – Community Food Coupons”. Tang highly appreciated Café de Coral’s efforts and devotion in community works, “this campaign will benefit over 700 people of underprivileged groups such as senior citizens who live alone and the disabled. Most importantly, we can spread our love to the neighborhood during this festive time of the year,” she expressed.

Lo pointed out that the Group had established within the community for almost 50 years and wished to celebrate the New Year via food sharing. “We are honored to cooperate with Food Grace and numerous local community groups, and mobilise our staff to send out festival blessings to more than 700 people, conveying the message of cherishing food.” Lo claimed.

18 sessions of Community Spring Feast are held with over 720 participants from Shum Shui Po, Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin, Kwai Tsing, Tin Shui Wai, Tuen Mun, Tung Chung, Shau Kei Wan and so on.
